CTA — Chartered Tax Adviser
The UK’s premier tax qualification, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT). The CTA designation is the gold standard for UK tax professionals. MojiTax offers 8 courses across all three CTA levels for the 2026 cycle — Exam Focus for Awareness, Professional Practice for Advanced Technical, and a CheatBook for the Application paper.
How the CTA qualification works
The CTA requires 7 exams: 4 tax papers across three levels, plus 3 computer-based exams (CBEs). There is no fixed order, but all CBEs must be completed before your final tax paper.
Three course types for CTA
Each CTA level has a dedicated course type. Exam Focus and CheatBook courses include mock exams marked by professionals within 5 working days — a feature unique to MojiTax.

CTA Questions
Seven exams in total: 4 tax papers (1 Awareness, 2 Advanced Technical, 1 Application) plus 3 computer-based exams in Law, Accounting, and Professional Responsibilities & Ethics. You also need 3 years of practical experience to earn the Chartered Tax Adviser designation.
No — there is no fixed order for the tax papers. However, all 3 CBEs must be completed before you sit your final tax paper. One important rule: your Awareness and Advanced Technical module choices cannot overlap in subject area.
Choose modules most relevant to your career. Owner Managed Businesses and Larger Companies & Groups are popular for general practice. IHT, Trusts & Estates suits private client work. Cross-Border & Environmental Taxes is ideal for international roles. Remember, your AT choices cannot overlap with your Awareness modules.
Each CTA level uses a different course type. Exam Focus (£150) covers Awareness — full syllabus with eBook, slides, and a mock exam. Professional Practice (£500) covers Advanced Technical — practice-focused with case studies and MojiTax Tools. CheatBook (£250) covers Application — exam technique and model answers.
